Taródi Castle

Sopron

The Taródi Castle is a unique medieval-style fortress located on the hillside of the Lővérek district. Covering more than 4,000 m², the castle was inspired by the architecture of medieval knights' castles and is one of Sopron's most unusual attractions.

Visitors enter the castle by crossing a drawbridge over a three-metre-deep moat. The original-style gatehouse features a working chain mechanism, counterweights and a traditional portcullis, recreating the atmosphere of a genuine medieval fortress.

A 16-metre-high entrance tower with a diameter of 10 metres welcomes visitors. A hidden spiral staircase leads to the top of the five-storey tower, where a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding area awaits.
